For students who are new to the secondary transfer Music Aptitude Test, our 11 Plus Music Test Workshops provide an informative introduction to the Music Aptitude Test. The workshops offer familiarisation and guided practice across all four test sections relating to the first stage of the Music Aptitude Test: Pitch, Melody, Rhythm and Texture.

At the start of the workshop we explain the Music Aptitude Test process and introduce the different kinds of methods and strategies that students can use when approaching each of the four test sections. Students then complete practice questions for each test section, allowing them to apply these strategies and become more familiar with the types of questions they may encounter. We also discuss the three main criteria that adjudicators look for when assessing a student’s musical performance in the second stage performance assessment. The smaller workshop groups are particularly useful for students who would benefit from further strengthening potential weaker areas identified through previously attended 11 Plus Mock Music Tests, as well as for students seeking additional practice and consolidation.

Our 11 Plus Music Test Workshops are held online and run monthly up to and including Saturday 7th August 2027.
