There are two stages to the Music Aptitude Test. The first stage comprises a multiple choice written aptitude test in music consisting of 60 questions in four tests sections, Pitch, Melody, Rhythm and Texture. The second stage is a performance assessment.
For the first stage of the Music Aptitude Test your child will be allocated a test venue within the consortium of schools. The test takes place after school, usually in the main hall of the school test centre and is played on a CD. The test venue allocated has no relation to the school of your choice. The Music Aptitude Test does not require any previous knowledge of music, or music theory.
